Institutional culture is the sum total of assumptions, beliefs, attitudes and behaviors that an institution or organization’s members share, profess and act out. An institution defines its own measures of excellence and success, and builds its own culture to support its vision, goals and standards.

To ensure an alignment between articulated values, norms and actual behaviors of people in the institution, Dr. Genevieve Ledesma Tan with Dr. Benito L. Teehankee, and a number of faculty and management people from Southville International School and Colleges (SISC) wrote this Institutional Culture Manual as applied at SISC, an ISO 9001:2000 certified academic institution, recognized by the Department of Education as a “School of the Future,” and internationally accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges, U.S.A.. This manual on institutional culture building can serve as a good reference for educational institutions that are in the process of culture building, rebuilding, or transformation.
