ABOUT THE WEBINAR The COVID-19 Pandemic has become a catalyst for educational institutions to build resilience to new challenges in a relatively short period of time. The academe, especially private schools, is less prioritized by the government in terms of subsidies and financial support and must find solutions to continue teaching. These institutions must self-manage to minimize the economic and financial impact of the pandemic. As such, schools are facing the burden of cost-cutting including downsizing their people to thrive financially and survive in the long run. The big questions employers (school administrators/officers) are facing are: 1) What are the bases for right-sizing? 2) How can schools legally comply with the DOLE ruling on redundancy and retrenchment? 3) How can they properly manage the right size of people? 4) What are the implications of downsizing to employees and management especially if they belong to a union? This webinar will explore different viable strategies on right-sizing your workforce to avoid labor lawsuits, introduce the new arrangements to both surviving and retrenched employees, and address pertinent issues that may arise when your institution is unionized.   SPEAKER:Atty.   Dear Colleagues in AASHPI, Greetings! We hope you and your loved ones are well and safe in this our third week under the “Enhanced Community Quarantine”, which is effectively a lockdown in the entire Luzon since its imposition on March 16, 2020 by President Rodrigo Duterte in response to the fight against the spread of COVID-19 in the country. The last two weeks had been very challenging to all of us and under extraordinary times, kept us very busy in addressing the needs of our own institutions especially in considering decisions that would have the least impact to our workforce and to the stakeholders of our institutions, thus the silence of AASHPI. But now that we have put in place what are necessary, we would like to take this opportunity to reach out and check on you as our valued members. So while the COVID-19 issue continues to evolve in the country, we would like to continue serving you by giving you our unwavering commitment and support you in coping with these challenging times.  As part of our academic adjustments, recovery response and assistance during this crisis, we are putting together a series of e-discussions or webinar series to serve as a cheerleading platform,  hopes to share experiences, best practices, raise issues and possible interventions to contribute to mitigating the negative impacts of the crisis. At the same time, we intend to explore opportunities from where resilience and recovery points may come from. So watch out for the announcements soon and hope to have your usual participation. Stay safe and healthy always.  God bless Sincerely,MYRNA “MIMIE” G. REYES, FPMAASHPI President
